  The only complaints we are he living room furniture. The sofas are very uncomfortable and worn out it’s difficult to sit on them especially if you have back and knee problems. And the TV channels are not good at all. We couldn’t even get local news!

  We LOVED staying at Josie’s for the week! Never turned on the tv since there is so much to do! And all the details they put into their guests experience from having indoor and outdoor games, beach chairs, the adored porch bed which is great for afternoon naps, and the welcome bag! We LOVE Chincoteague and have for many years, this house will be one we stay in again for sure! The only suggestion is to upgrade the queen mattress. Aside from that everything was wonderful and felt like home.

  This beachy bungalow is perfect. We have stayed in this vacation home year after year. Sometime staying multiple weeks a year. It’s definitely our favorite. It’s clean and it’s pet friendly. The homeowner really appreciates the guests. I appreciate that the house is well equipped with everything we need to be comfortable for the week. Linens and towels are provided, even beach towels. This homeowner really tries to think of all the needs from a renters point of view. On an island where there are so many places to stay, this one is such a great option. We call this home our home away from home. We treat it like it’s our home and we even know some of the full time neighbors now. It’s a 10 out of 10 for our family.

  We just spent a very comfortable week at Josie’s Getaway. This cottage was very clean and so beautifully appointed and decorated in a very appropriate beach and pony theme. The kitchen was well stocked with all the basic necessities plus more to make for a comfortable stay. The bedrooms were welcoming with comfortable beds and plenty of closet and drawer space. The bathrooms, too, were very clean and comfortable. The weather allowed us to enjoy the screened in back porch and the backyard furniture as well as a morning cup of coffee on the front porch.
  The neighborhood was quiet and felt very safe.
  This rental was a wonderful find and we would definitely return if/when we visit Chincoteague again!

  Perfect house for two couples. The house has a great floor plan with and was very well appointed, everything we needed to prepare our own meals. Plenty of towels for the house and the beach.   This is our second stay at Josie’s. It is conveniently located and very well appointed. The home is well decorated and comfortable, things were very clean, and, as always, we were made to feel very welcome. The owners have thought of everything. It really does feel like you are staying with family and not just a rental. We love the upgraded full size washer & dryer, and the new chair. We also particularly enjoyed the beautiful fire pit and the porch swing. While there’s lots to do in Chincoteague, there’s also a lot of fun and family time to be had at Josie’s! There’s the open concept kitchen/dining room/family room, with lots of photos and info. on the ponies, plus books, puzzles, and games. The screen porch gives you an extra dining table and the swing! Outside is more seating and the fire pit. Josie’s even has skewers for marshmallows in case you forget yours! We LOVE staying here. It really is a home away from home. We can’t wait to come back next year!

  Our stay at Josie's Getaway was a forever-to-remember experience. When we saw the photos of the ponies in one of the bedrooms, we knew we were where we were supposed to be. The seahorses on the window shutters always welcomed us back when we returned from another Chincoteague adventure Josie is furnished with everything anyone will ever need. Comfortable beds, laundry facilities, plenty of light switches in convenient locations; a swing on the screened-in sunporch where you can curl up and listen to birdsongs and wind windchimes; dishes and cooking utensils, all shapes and sizes; a "pony family photo album." of the stallions, mares and foals that roam Assateague Island; and neighbors who make you feel at home. Harbour Rental personnel had answers to all of our questions and promptly responded when technical services were needed. When the day came for us to leave, we didn't want to "go away" from Josie's "getaway."

  Our family loved staying at Josie’s Getaway! The property was conveniently located in a beautiful area. The home was well maintained with lots of amenities. The swing on the screened porch and the outdoor fire pit were a huge factor in our decision to pick Josie’s. The only issues we had were some dog hair in the main bedroom and living area, (but it’s a pet friendly rental, so we understand that) and couches were very comfy, but feathers from the throw pillows kept getting everywhere. The bathrooms were spotless, and very roomy. The kitchen had everything we needed and plenty of room to cook. The home is beautifully decorated and we loved the seasonal touches. All the beautiful pony pictures and photo albums were a delight. We loved looking at them! This is our favorite rental on the island now. We definitely want to come back and stay at Josie’s!

  Due to the pandemic, we missed our yearly visit in 2020. Harbor Rentals helped us roll over our full rental to 2021. The only issue was that our original home that we stayed at was not available. We looked through all the available pet friendly rentals and chose Josie's Getaway. We were BEYOND excited when we pulled into the driveway but we couldn't have been more excited when we entered the home. This home owner is really involved in decorating and making the home beautiful! Harbor Rentals has never failed us and during our very first visit in which we booked on our own and were devastated by the condition of the property, they were eager to help us when we stopped by the office. Everything is always clean and comfortable and the staff at Harbor Rentals is always kind and caring. We even received a nice email after we had to cancel one of our dog deposits after losing our sweet Rebekah. You can't go wrong with Harbor Rentals!

  Josie's has it all! It's beautiful inside and outside. We love the swinging day bed outside and the amazing fire pit at night. This cottage is close to shopping and dining.   It was wonderful. Josie's Getaway is a comfortable and beautiful house. Very clean and beautifully decorated. The only way it would be better would be a fenced-in yard. I would recommend it to my friends. In fact we are planning another stay in the near future.

  We had another wonderful stay at Josie's Getaway! The updates this year make it even nicer than before. It is always very clean, the furniture is comfortable, and the kitchen is well stocked with everything you may need (though we generally do not cook while there because there are too many excellent places to eat). We didn't want to leave when our week stay was up.

  Josie's Getaway is one of the nicest places we have rented. It's well furnished and really nicely decorated. We were there in the offseason, but the weather was mild and perfect for enjoying the screened porch. Our family loved the swing on the porch. The location was pretty quiet but still an easy bike ride to the beach. The owner left us an incredibly thoughtful care package featuring items from local businesses - which we then went to check out. We had a great week and would go back in a heart beat.

  Josie's Getaway is a such a charming beach cottage. We've been vacationing on Chincoteague Island for many years and in many different beach cottages. When when we found Josie's Getaway last year, we loved it so much we decided to stay again this year. Josie's has it all! The cottage is bright and cheery and is so clean. It's like staying at a friends house in that the owners have provided everything you need and more for a comfortable and relaxing stay. They even leave a welcome bag with a handwritten note. New this year was an amazing bed swing on the screen porch.
  The house has a great central location on the island, near the beach, shopping, and dining. Our favorite activity was the twilight cruise where we saw dolphins, ponies, and an eagle up close. We loved eating at Woodies for a burger and playing outdoor games.
  We love Josie's Getaway and Chincoteague Island. We love Harbour Rentals-they are a friendly company and very accommodating. We've always rented from them! We hope to visit again next year!

  My husband and I have been coming to the island for years and after staying here, it’s one of our favorites. Plenty of space for a family of four and the porch out back is great! Though it’s not completely walkable, it’s still very close to town and easy to get around. We will be back!

  We thoroughly enjoyed our week at this rental. Overall I love the home, and we were able to bring our pups along. The only issue we had was that the outdoor shower may need looked at since the flow was very slow, however, that definitely would not deter me from booking again. The washer and dryer were great to have to be able to wash clothes and towels after the beach.
